Essentially beauty blogs and makeup artists can become the voice for a fashion brand. What people value when it comes to bloggers is their honesty and integrity. Today, most truthful reviews about a product come from blogs. Through fashion blogs, consumers can find answers about the product’s efficacy in addition to a full profile that includes scent and texture too. Even comments left on Amazon and other online selling websites can get spammy nowadays.
When a blogger or a makeup artist endorses a product, particularly the influential bloggers, consumers take it seriously and will be quicker to buy it than from a paid ad. Due to the honesty a blogger portrays, their followers can trust that they wouldn’t want to jeopardize their own reputation by sharing products they wouldn’t normally use or feel good about.
Everyone’s idea of beauty is different, so don’t try to validate your beauty or creativity based on beauty standards set by society.

Believe in one’s ideas and potential is the preferred process to create content by Seerath Sheik for her Makeup Review & Beauty Blog. In this interview with Goan Insider, she shares what goes into the making of a makeup artist and beauty influencer. The excerpts of our conversation are below.
Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Seerath Sheik. I’m a Physics Graduate, a makeup artist and beauty blogger based in Goa. I enjoy makeup because it helps me bring out my creative side and it simply makes me happy.
When and how did you get into the makeup/beauty industry?
I developed an interest in makeup in my early teens but took up makeup as a profession only in 2018. My elder sister played a very important role in guiding me through the process of beauty blogging. We did a lot of research work before delving into this field. Initially, we planned looks with just the handful of makeup I had and tried to be innovative in our editing and photography skills. Hence what started as passion gave birth to “Seerath Mystique” that you know as of today. So I’d like to take this moment and show gratitude towards my elder sister for lending me a helping hand and my friends who helped me by sharing my work.
Why did you initially decide to start beauty blogging?
I had reached a point in my life where I realised that a 9 to 5 job is not my cup of tea. I took a break from my job and took the time to understand what I actually wanted to do with my life. I used to be fascinated by makeup transformations on YouTube. Watching makeup tutorial felt so therapeutic and hence I thought of practising it and documenting it on social media platforms. I also started creating makeup tutorials because I personally enjoyed it.
What beauty products can you not live without? Why?
Lipsticks and blushes!
Wearing a good lip shade enhances my mood instantly and I feel totally ready to take on the day. I’m sure most humans feel the same. A little blush just adds the perfect amount of glow to my skin.
How would you describe your signature look?
Well I love natural dewy makeup. Using facial oil while doing my complexion gives my skin a healthy glow.
How was your experience working with Nykaa?
I had a wonderful experience! I got to work on the faces of well known beauty bloggers. The interaction was very helpful and informative .The entire experience added a lot of value to my profile.
Any skin care or make up tips you’d like to share with us?
Skincare tips:
- Make sure you follow the CTM ritual every single day!
- Always begin your skincare on damp skin so that the products can absorb better.
- Use a sunscreen that suits your skin every day even if you are indoors and make sure you keep yourself hydrated at all times.
Makeup tips:
- Less is more and blending is key.
- Well moisturised skin makes the blending of products over it easier and reduces product wastage.
- Avoid wearing a coal eyeliner if you have dark under eyes. Instead, try wearing a nude eyeliner with mascara. This will make you look fresh instantly.
How do you stay abreast of the latest beauty trends?
Instagram and YouTube are great platforms to keep oneself updated with the latest makeup trends but I also watch a lot of makeup related shows on television and Netflix like “GlowUp”, “Skin Wars”, they are very informative!
What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?
The best aspects are that I can put out my thoughts and ideas to the world and have complete control over my blog. The reviews that I post on my blog are my own and not influenced by anyone else. Running my own blog also encourages me to produce quality content for my audience which is truly satisfying.
The hardest aspect being that every time I put out a post, I have to be prepared for negative criticism or feedback. Being under a public domain is a responsibility that has to be handled with a positive mindset.
Which element of your job do you most enjoy? What has been the highlight of your career?
I get to work on people with various skin tones and skin textures and each one of them has a unique requirement. Hence my job gets very challenging and exciting. There was a time where I started feeling saturated with practicing only beauty makeup and so I indulged in creative makeup and SFX makeup which made me feel invigorated.
Working with Nykaa Beauty definitely has to be the highlight of my career. The experience taught me a lot on professional grounds. It gave me the opportunity to interact with beauty bloggers whom I used to watch only on social media. So, it is very important to have faith in your own abilities, work hard and there is nothing you cannot accomplish.
Social Media has become a major influence to the beauty industry. How important are social media platforms for you?
Social media helps us to connect with people from different walks of life. It helps us to increase our network and also build our portfolio. It is a great platform to share our ideas and support other influencers as well. Social media has given us the opportunity to build ourselves as a personal brand independently.
Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?
I plan my work by research on the latest makeup trends. It’s very important to pen down all the thoughts and prepare the material required to create and execute a look. Photography angles also plays a major part in capturing a look.
Any advice to anyone that wants to start a beauty blog?
Just start! Be consistent and plan your posts well. Get inspiration from others but create your own version. Most importantly, appreciate your work!
Do you have any tips or advice for aspiring makeup artists?
Keep practicing! Practice on different skin types, skin undertones, skin texture, facial features. Also, experiment with different brands. Only when you know your products well, you will know how to work with them.
Share with us 3 random facts about you that very few people know
I am left-handed, I love desserts, and I have been told that I have an underrated ability to read the room or somebody’s mind.
How can our readers stay connected with you as well as your brand?
You can follow me on Instagram or subscribe to my YouTube channel, Seerath Mystique.
What is the future you foresee for your Personal Brand?
A lot of people think that the purpose of makeup is only to hide flaws. The aim of Seerath Mystique is to change that mindset. Makeup is more about the emotions behind the look rather than just the look.
Once you understand the science of applying makeup by creating different looks, blending and mixing products, experimenting, basically practicing creativity and art, makeup can be a natural mood-booster. If Seerath Mystique can bring about a change in this mindset of the people, that itself would be revolutionary.
