One of the many charms of Goa are the local bars you will see set up serving reasonably priced liqiour and some authentic Goan appetisers. They have been a regular hang out for a lot of locals as well as tourists. They are not easy to find and are mostly family-owned. Our team at Goan Insider recently came across a local bar just like this, a hidden gem in the village of Arpora, Goa. We describe this place as having Good Vibes! Palatable Food! Delicious Drinks! Good Music! and a whole lot of socialising. The measure of a bar is the experience of its customers in hospitality, drinks and food, and Cajy Bar has got that covered.
Cajy Bar was started by Cajetan Fernandes in the 1970s, and the business has been passed down over generations. Today, Cajetan’s grandson, Eligio Fernandes runs Cajy Bar along with his mom, Philomena Fernandes and sister, Evelyn Fernandes. This keeps it still as a family run business. This strong team of 3 have worked hard to give Cajy Bar a chill and ‘susegad’ kind of vibe with its rustic Goan bar ambience and a series of DIY sit-outs, making it a fun hotspot for not only the locals but tourists as well.

For decades, Cajy Bar has had its legacy as a local bar where anybody could visit to grab a quick drink of Feni along with a quick bite of yummy Goan food. And it continues to remain that way. This is a favoured place for a lot of young Goans, who flock to Cajy Bar in big groups to soak in the calm and susegad vibe, socialise, play games and just binge on the delicious homemade Goan food cooked by the expert Philomena. Its more like a second home to many Goans rather than just a plain old bar. And the alcohol is not at all pricy. Till today, ‘Ard mass’ is one of the most popular and a well known speciality at Cajy Bar. Their beef croquettes are served fresh and hot and just melt in your mouth. The Goan styled beef cutlet has a mild spice kick which goes best with your alcohol. The stew is a must-order as well.
Cajy Bar does keep its guests entertained every now and then with open mics, live game streaming, a fun carrom spot and much more. There is always something for everyone at Cajy bar. Be prepared to meet people of all ages and from all walks of life. For everyone, Cajy Bar is the best place to chill and drink with your friends in North Goa.
Cajy Bar is definitely a local hotspot you cannot miss out on.
